Ah, tantrums. They’re normal, but as a parent, so hard to deal with—especially when you’re out in public.
Unless you’re Ohio dad Terrel Rico Relz Crawford. Last month, he went live on Facebook as his daughter, Ari, had an “attitude break” on the hood of their car in the Walmart parking lot after she had thrown a tantrum in the store. In the video, Ari is crying in the background as Crawford looks at the camera with a calm and even somewhat amused look that says, We’ve all been here before, right?
How to stop tantrums—before they start As Ari continues to cry, Crawford calmly asks her if she’s finished, and tells her that he’s not taking her back in until she’s stopped. “We don’t have to walk around the store with your mom. That’s a privilege,” he explains.
Talking to her firmly but calmly seems to do the trick, and as Ari begins to calm down, Crawford turns his attention to the camera to talk to the other parents watching. “See?,” he says. “When you spoil the hell out of your kids, this is what happens.”
He then goes on to explain that he isn’t afraid to say no to his kids. “We buy the stuff that they get, and we take it away from them when they don’t deserve it,” he says.
The video has been viewed on Facebook over 22 million times, and people have been praising Crawford for his calm discipline and his parenting philosophy. Does his message resonate with you? Watch the full video below:LESEN SIE MEHR:
